Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain strong internal control and accountability systems.
• Oversee the effective implementation of DGT’s financial policies, procedures, and systems.
• Ensure all legal, statutory, and donor compliance requirements are met (FCRA, Income Tax, Companies Act, RBI, TDS, GST, PF).
• Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely responses and implementation of recommendations.
• Proactively identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and update financial compliance frameworks and ensure organization-wide adherence.
• Act as the primary point of contact for statutory bodies, regulatory agencies, and donor audits.
• Liaise with external consultants and legal advisors on tax, audits, and legal matters.
• Maintain high-level relationships with banking partners and government authorities.
• Ensure organizational readiness for changes in tax legislation.
• Represent the organization in interactions with tax authorities, as needed.
II. Financial Operations & Reporting
• Oversee vendor and staff payment processing, ensuring adherence to statutory deductions and proper documentation.
• Oversee tax matters and reconciliation reports.
• Process and submit fund requests, ensuring adherence to budgets.
• Oversee monthly and annual financial closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Develop, review and distribute financial statements, management reports, cash flow projections, and budgets.
• Monitor budget utilization and cash flow, providing recommendations to leadership.
• Design and oversee monthly cash reconciliations and bank statement closures.
• Maintain the financial dashboard and net asset schedule, providing regular updates to leadership.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of internal and external financial documents.
III. Team Leadership & Capacity Building
• Inspire, lead, and manage the finance team, fostering a high-performing and customer-service-oriented environment.
• Establish individual and team goals, conduct performance assessments, and provide regular feedback.
• Support leadership in strategic oversight by providing financial data for decision-making.
• Build and strengthen internal finance and compliance capacities, including budget management skills for non-finance staff.
• Engage with multiple stakeholders to address needs and concerns.
• Build staff capacity on financial compliance and regulatory awareness.
Qualifications and Experience
• Partner with Budgeting & Grants team to align workforce budgeting and forecasting decisions
• Provide financial insights, budgets, and risk analysis to Senior Leadership team to support strategic decision making and organizational planning.
• Coordinate with Program team on budget utilization, fund requests, financial reporting, and compliance to ensure program activities align with approved budgets and donor requirements.
• Collaborate with Procurement/Operations team for vendor payments, contract compliance, and procurement documentation to ensure financial transparency and statutory compliance.
• Coordinate with Statutory and Regulatory Authorities on regulatory filings, compliance reporting, and responding to statutory queries.
• Maintain relationships for fund management, banking operations, and financial transactions.
Qualification, Skills and Expertise Required
• 12–15 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.
• Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in the non-profit sector (mandatory).
• Proven experience in managing FCRA compliance (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial processes, and statutory/regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to design and strengthen internal controls, manage financial risks, and ensure accountability.
• Strong commitment to financial integrity, transparency, and ethical practices.
