Job Summary

The position is primarily responsible for managing the FPO-level Agri product output market linkages of the e-FARM Project being implemented in partnership with Identified resource institutions, CBBOs, SRLMs, Govt departments, and FPOs. They are responsible for the identification of potential markets, traders, exporters, manufacturers, start-ups, processing units, and conducting buyer-seller events for the identified Agri commodities to sell the product of member farmers in FPOs. Also Giving handhold support to FPOs to connect with suitable buyers in the markets and training the FPO functionaries about the product quality parameters. Conducting required training programs for FPO functionaries on value addition, branding, and marketing as and when required. Strengthening the capacities of FPOs to make data-driven decisions based on the quality data generated by the FPOs.

Key Responsibilities

Program Delivery – e-FARM Project

– Provide training support to the FPO leadership or to the resource institute to generate meaningful full market demand-driven data from the digital tool that DG is promoting.
– Market Research: Conducting research to identify potential markets for agricultural products, as well as analyzing market trends, consumer preferences, and price fluctuations.
– Market Analysis: Assessing the demand and supply dynamics of various agricultural commodities, identifying opportunities, and providing insights to farmers on market conditions, pricing strategies, and potential risks.
– Market Planning: Developing strategic marketing plans, including setting specific goals, defining target markets, and creating strategies to promote the organization’s agricultural products effectively
– Market Development: Assisting farmers in establishing connections with buyers, negotiating contracts, and exploring new market channels such as direct sales, e-commerce platforms, or farmer’s market
– Value Addition: Suggesting ways to enhance the value of agricultural products through quality improvement, packaging, branding, or diversification, thus enabling farmers to fetch higher prices in the mark
– Market Intelligence: Monitoring and sharing information on government policies, subsidies, trade regulations, and market trends that might impact the farmer organization’s market position or profitability.
– Networking and Collaboration: Building relationships with key stakeholders in the agriculture industry, including trade associations, retailers, processors, exporters, and government agencies, to facilitate collaboration and access to market resources.
– Monitoring and Evaluation: Continuously evaluating the effectiveness of market strategies implemented by the farmer organization, collecting feedback from farmers and buyers, and making adjustments or improvements as necessary.

Activity Level Responsibilities

– Conducting the relevant training programs for FPO functionaries on product quality management, marketing, value addition, branding, and processing.
– Handholding the FPOs in preparation of output market linkages business plan and guiding them to arrange the necessary logistics to connect with markets.
– Assisting the FPOs to prepare to produce procurement route plans for the effective aggregation in sizable volumes to deal with potential traders.
– Identifying the potential e-commerce platform startups and companies to onboard the FPOs for better market connections.
– Helping the FPOs to establish primary and secondary processing units to develop and market their own branded products to step into the retailing market sector.
– Identify the best-performing FPOs of the project to capacitate further to become role models for other FPOs.
– Participate in FPO governing body meetings to educate its members about the potential market linkages based on the opportunities available with the particular FPO.
– Strengthening the FPOs towards acquiring required licenses to develop their value-added products to increase member engagement.
– Organise Buyers -Sellers meet wherever required.
– Conduct weekly/monthly review meetings with FPOs to guide and monitor the performance progress of FPOs in market linkages.
– Report and discuss with the respective state lead/program lead during the implementation of the activities.
– Develop the periodic project progress reports, case studies, and other required documentation to track the project progress.

Thematic and technical support

-To ensure that the project activities are implemented in coordination with other complementary initiatives, bringing synergy and collaboration to ensure optimal resource utilization and enhanced effectiveness of DG initiatives
-To build technical and thematic understanding of the state team as well as the national initiatives of DG through regular sharing of lessons and knowledge from the project
-To support other state-level initiatives as and when required to provide additional support, coordination, and facilitation as a part of the larger state-level program
-To represent DG at district and state level meetings, share lessons learned, build relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure value addition through sharing of information and resources with other initiatives in the state
 
Team Management

-To monitor, supervise, support and motivate the team involved in project implementation
-To provide administrative support and supervision to direct reports as and when required
-To monitor and guide the data officers/CEOs of FPOs.

Qualifications and Experience

1) Graduate / Post Graduate (preferably) in MBA/Agriculture / Development Studies
2) 6 – 8 years of relevant work experience (preferably working with FPOs & managing output market linkages in the field)
3) Experience in Agri commodities output market linkages.
4) Good network ability to connect the FPOs with Output linkage ecosystem players.

– Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to effectively communicate marketing plans, proposals, and recommendations to farmer producer companies. Additionally, the ability to understand and convey complex agricultural concepts to diverse audiences is valuable.
– Market Research and Analysis: Competency in conducting market research, analyzing market trends, and staying updated with industry developments is important. This helps in identifying market opportunities, assessing competition, and developing data-driven marketing strategies.
– Problem-solving and Creativity: Ability to think critically, solve problems, and develop innovative marketing solutions is essential. This includes designing marketing campaigns, creating unique value propositions, and adapting strategies to meet evolving market needs.
– Relationship Building: Building and maintaining strong relationships with farmer producer companies, stakeholders, and industry experts is crucial for success. This can involve networking, collaboration, and being a trusted advisor to the organizations you work with.
– Digital Marketing Skills: Proficiency in digital marketing techniques, including social media marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), content creation, and analytics, is increasingly important to effectively reach and engage target audiences.
