Digital Green Trust started its operations in 2011 onwards in Andhra Pradesh. We have been working with Government & non-government organizations over these years to build the capacities of the agriculture extension system to provide better access to the crop package of practices for smallholder farmers. We have been working with SERP, RySS, Department of Horticulture & Agriculture over these years on promoting sustainable agriculture practices and strengthening of Farmer Producer Organizations to increase small and marginal farmers income. Digital Green Trust has been able to demonstrate a scalable and replicable digital model that integrates appropriate technology tools and platforms to deliver timely, high-quality advisory through various channel to a farmer, using various delivery channels and help them avail the latest technologies. Over the longer term, these interventions are expected to positively impact income through cost savings from reducing the overuse of inputs and increased sales prices from improved product quality. When implemented at scale, the use of cost-effective messaging techniques and improved data linkages through technology tools will help the front-level workers manage their engagement with farmers more effortlessly and effectively.

Job Summary

We are seeking candidates who are highly committed & enthusiastic to work with the small and marginal farming communities based in the project implementation districts (Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam, NTR, Kurnool, Srikakulam & Vizianagaram) of Andhra Pradesh. This is a great opportunity for professionals who want to work closely with the Department of Agriculture / Horticulture Officials and other technical partner agencies to promote innovative agricultural practices & digital extension services that can improve their quality of life. This position would be required to ensure all the program activities across 7 districts and use cases viz., Farmer mobilisation, farmer.chat application, FPO training and capacity building, user engagement and mobility, and digital onboarding of FPOs. Also helping the farmers to connect with relevant Input & Output service providers to access better service on time at better prices. If you can work with different agriculture commodities, multi-stakeholders and government counterparts, have a passion for travel and work with farmers & FPOs this is the right place to demonstrate your expertise to support the smallholder farmers. The Program Officer will report to the Project Manager and the dotted line report to the State Head.

Key Responsibilities

Program Delivery
o Coordinate with Government officials of line departments, field staff of FPO/NGOs, and technical partners for the smooth functioning of the Project.
o Conduct state & district launch meetings in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture & Agriculture.
o Support technical partners in content development for farmer.chat and disseminate to the respective FPOs & liaise with the officials from the Department of Horticulture/Agriculture.
o Ensure the POP video advisories produced are being disseminated by the concerned FLEWs as per the season-specific / situation demands.
o Conduct & assist in organizing the farmer awareness campaigns in rural areas and onboarding them on the application, tracking their usage, ensuring the regular continuous engagement of the user and reporting the same to the respective Departments and partners.
o Ensure Training management – Plan for Training/Refreshers, reporting, documentation and assisting in presenting the periodic findings of the project
o Conduct training programs for FLWs, and FPOs on the given digital tools and other CB programs as per their need.
o Ensure Project Management – Monitor the project interventions regularly, have good rapport with all the field team members, encourage the field team to perform the project deliverables on time and provide handholding support.
o Facilitating Monthly review & planning of the program by the District officials.
o Reporting periodically on Project Progress and Key Performance Indicators to the Project Manager and Program Manager
o Conduct field visits for the teams, departments, donors, and partners during the project period.
o Willing to travel extensively across the project location to ensure the project deliverables are achieved on time.
o Prepare weekly & monthly reports of the project and timely submission to the program manager.
o Prepare project implementation plans and support the field team to ground the initiatives on time.
o The candidate is expected to take on additional responsibilities/tasks assigned by Digital Green apart from the regular project duties.

Team Management
o Identify the suitable candidates for the program implementation on the ground.
o Monitor and handhold the Front Line Extension Workers (FLEWs), data officers to ensure the activities are delivered on time.
o Conduct review meetings and prepare implementation plans for the ground team to execute the activities timely.
o Work collaboratively with the state team to ensure implementation of the program activities in districts.
o Report the project outcomes timely to the program manager, project & state leads.
o To ensure that the project team always has clarity on their roles, goals and approach
o To ensure that the data/information from the field team is periodically collected, analysed and presented to the program manager.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
o Graduate / Post Graduate (preferably) in Agriculture / Development Studies
o 3 -5 years of relevant work experience (preferably in the field of Extension & FPOs)

Skills & Competencies
o Experience working with a diverse team, including across time zones, cultures, English language, Hindi abilities, and backgrounds
o Willing and able to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and undertake travel
o Understanding of the Agriculture extension sector & FPOs.
o Good communication and interpersonal skills
o Ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
o Demonstrates ownership towards the implementation of strategy and channelizes partners’ efforts for achieving results.
o Displays resourcefulness in overcoming obstacles even in ambiguous or unfavourable situations and can guide the partner/extension workers to do the same
